The ultra modern Melia Barcelona Sky building is split into two hotels: the lower part is the 4-star hotel section while above that is the Level at Melia Barcelona Sky, which includes 5-star hotel amenities.
I stayed at the Level part of the hotel and I couldn’t be more pleased with my room and the luxurious amenities. However, what impressed me most is the friendly and attentive staff throughout the hotel. As some of you may know, I have experience working in a luxury hotel so customer service is something that I always notice. At this hotel, I could tell that the service was very genuine. When I first checked in, I didn’t know that I actually booked a room in the Level section of the hotel. The front desk agent quickly assisted me to the Level reception. Since there was a bit of a wait there, another gentleman offered to help me. That gentleman, Marc, turned out to be a hotel manager. He was very welcoming and he assigned me a room on the highest floor of the hotel with the most amazing views. The guests of the Level also have access to the Level lounge, which offers complimentary snacks, tapas and drinks throughout the day.
The rest of the hotel has a very modern feel. There’s a pool area that’s furnished with plenty of loungers, which are perfect for a sunny day in Barcelona. Level guests also have access to the spa facilities and the fitness centre on the same floor that is decent in size.
The room I was assigned to was spacious and well appointed. I liked the modern and clean lines of the design. There was a large chaise lounge at the foot of the bed that’s perfect if you’re doing some work on your laptop. The room also had floor to ceiling windows that offered breathtaking views of the city (some rooms face the Mediterranean Sea, so just imagine that view!).
The bathroom in the room was also large (my room didn’t have a bathtub but it didn’t matter to me). The bathroom had clear windows facing the bedroom so you can still see the view from there. The hotel provides generous-sized Loewe toiletries, which is a luxurious Spanish brand.
The hotel is not close to the city centre so the streets in the area are quiet. The area has more of a residential feel. If that’s what you’re looking for, this is a good hotel to consider. There is a subway stop nearby and the beach is also a walking distance.
- The service here is top-notch – the best I experienced in the city.
- The room is spacious and modern with amazing views.
- The Level lounge offers amazing snacks and drinks throughout the day.
- Location is not close to most attractions but there is a subway stop nearby.
