W Hotels are known for their playful vibes and contemporary style and W Seattle is no exception. The lobby, which they call the Living Room, is an impressive space with sleek design features. The massive fireplace just makes the space more inviting. They also offer free coffee and other refreshments in the front desk area of the lobby. The lobby also has a bar called TRACE where they offer contemporary dishes using local ingredients. I went for a drink there one night and I was impressed with the service. I highly recommend their ahi poke wonton chips. They also have happy hour specials at the bar and at night, they have DJ’s spinning in the lobby. Overall, the hotel has a nice social atmosphere with friendly staff.
I stayed in a renovated Spectacular Room category on the 15th floor. I did like the room but I thought the room was a little bit bland for a W Hotel. The room itself was large and so was the bathroom. There was also a sectional by the window that was pretty comfortable. I also appreciated the large desk by the TV where I could easily put all my gadgets. One thing I noticed was the walls were a bit thin so when my neighbours were pre-drinking in their hotel room, I could hear their music pretty loudly. Overall, the room was nice and spacious.
The hotel is located in downtown Seattle. It is within walking distance to popular spots like the Pike Place Market. Next to the hotel is the Seattle Public Library, which is a spot I recommend especially for those who appreciate unique architecture. It’s also close to the Colman Dock (Pier 52) where you can take the Washington State Ferries, a classic Seattle experience in my opinion. The hotel is also about a 10-minute walk to Pioneer Square, which is another must-explore neighbourhood in Seattle.
- Staff is friendly, especially the front desk.
- Lobby has an amazing vibe, especially at night.
- The hotel gym is tiny!
- The renovated room is large but the style is on the plain side for a W Hotel.
